OFF-MOUNTAIN

Choosing to stay off-mountain doesn’t mean that you’re removed from all the action. In fact, it often means you’re bang-smack in the centre of it. The neighbouring villages may not be a short stroll to the chairlift, but they more than make up for it with other conveniences.

Off-mountain, or off-snow, accommodation is typically a cheaper option due to its slight removal from the snowfields. While you’re less likely to find snow outside your front door in these lower altitude areas, you most certainly will find choice in everything from accommodation to entertainment. Because towns and villages surrounding the ski resorts provide not just for visitors, but also locals, you’ll find plenty of restaurants and bars, as well as cinemas and supermarkets.

There’s a wider range of accommodation, too, ranging from luxury to budget, as well as more affordable shopping and ski hire.

Staying off-snow does mean you’ll need to drive or arrange transport to the snowfields when you feel like a dose of the action. However, that may just suit you fine – especially if you don’t intend to hit the slopes everyday. Take a look at the links below to find the best deals.
